Improvisation techniques Formation : a year full of musical encounters

Once again this year, the “Improvisation Techniques” programme brought together musicians from a wide range of backgrounds, united by a shared desire to deepen their improvisation skills, develop their listening abilities and enrich their musical vocabulary.

Spread over nine sessions, with one Tuesday session per month, this format allows participants to follow a structured learning journey while balancing their professional commitments, studies and personal projects. Over the months, the group developed a strong sense of connection through exchanges, discoveries and the sharing of experiences.

This year, participants had the opportunity to learn from an exceptional teaching team:

  • André Charlier (drums)
  • Benoît Sourisse (piano)
  • Jean-Michel Charbonnel (bass)
  • Stéphane Guillaume (saxophone)
  • Malo Mazurié (trumpet)
  • Noé Codjia (trumpet)
  • Pierre Perchaud (guitar)
  • Fred Loiseau (guitar)

Beyond purely technical aspects, this programme also provides a valuable space for building confidence, developing creativity and establishing an individual musical identity. Exchanges between participants, group exercises and practical sessions helped create a stimulating and supportive atmosphere throughout the year.

For several participants, the programme also served as excellent preparation for the entrance auditions for the CMDL’s diploma courses. Several went on to be selected to continue their studies within our longer-term programmes, confirming the value of this year of preparation and further development.

As every year, the programme concluded with a final concert, a highlight that showcased the work accomplished over the preceding months. It was a wonderful way to celebrate a year of learning, encounters and music.

Congratulations to all the participants for their commitment and enthusiasm, and to the entire teaching team for helping make this edition another success.
