Start of the 2026–2027 academic year at the CMDL!

A new year is underway at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood!

This week, the musicians enrolled in our programmes returned to the CMDL.

The first few days included information sessions introducing the key events and projects planned for the year, final administrative arrangements, reunions and first meetings between students and teachers — but, above all, the first instrumental lessons and the first notes of a new musical year.

The new academic year quickly gave way to playing and sharing, with a first masterclass dedicated to Duke Ellington, led by Frédéric Loiseau. It was an opportunity for everyone to deepen their understanding of the work of one of the most influential figures in jazz history.

New faces have joined the CMDL, while returning students are reconnecting with the people and places that will accompany them throughout their studies.

With classes, masterclasses, collaborative projects, concerts and opportunities to meet artists, the 2026–2027 academic year is already shaping up to be full of musical discoveries and inspiration.

Welcome to everyone at the CMDL, and here’s to a wonderful year of music!
