On November 14 and 15, 2024, the Université d’Évry will host the fourth edition of the “Actualités de la recherche sur le jazz en France” study days, in partnership with the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood (CMDL) and ADEJ. These days aim to :

• to bring together researchers working on jazz in France,
• present research in progress,
• and encourage dialogue between disciplines (musicology, sociology, cultural history, etc.).

A thematic session, “From jazz to variety music”, will explore the transition from jazz to variety music in the 1930s, a period marked by the emergence of orchestras fusing jazz, chanson and popular music. Duration: 20 minutes (10 minutes discussion). Deadline for submissions: October 6, 2024.
