European Big Band – Nikki Iles “Between Power and Brilliance”

For this edition of our European Week, the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood is honored to welcome Nikki Iles, who will share her expertise with musicians from all over Europe.
Once again this year, we are thrilled to form our European Big Band, under the direction of Nikki Iles, who will dazzle you with two exceptional concerts: Thursday, March 13 at the Jazz Club du CMDL and Friday, March 14 at Le Bal Blomet
This ambitious project blends luminous original compositions and dynamic orchestrations, showcasing Nikki Iles’ decades of mastery and innovation. Each carefully crafted piece delivers a vibrant soundscape, where the musicians’ energy meets the experience of an exceptional artist.

Throughout the week, musicians from across Europe will come together to exchange ideas and perform. We are honored to welcome prestigious European schools, including: Royal Academy of Music (London), Hochschule für Musik und Theater (Munich), University of Gothenburg (Sweden), Conservatorium Maastricht (Netherlands). The Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood will become a hub for international artists, driven by their passion for sharing music and culture. This week will once again reinforce CMDL’s standing among Europe’s top institutions for jazz and improvisational music education.
