Training aims

The CMDL proposes the creation of an educational program dedicated to the practice of Big Band, through the proofreading of mainstream and arrangers that mark the history of the genre, led by Stephane Guillaume and Claude Egea.

In 2014/2015, Claude and Stéphane have very concrete plans to break up the 3 year cycles, each cycle comprising mounting a concert repertoire; the first, on the Big Bands of the area with the best directories of Count Basie and Duke Ellington (which we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of his death); the second on the music generated by the historic collaboration of Thad Jones & Mel Lewis; and the third on the unique world of Vince Mendoza.

In 2015-2016 : the 1st semester concerned Thad Jones and Mel Lewis and the 2nd semester ,Gil Evans .

In 2016-2017 : they organized their work around Bill Hollman during the 1st demester and they will study Jaco Pastorius for the 2nd semester.

The objective of this training is to play these directories before an audience. Several concerts will be organized as part of this training.
