EPM MASTER “Enseignement et pratiques musicales”

The EPM MASTER “Enseignement et pratiques musicales” course at CMDL:

• provides students with a method of work enabling them to master instrumental technique and acquire a real artistic dimension,
• develops individual creativity and personal projects,
• helps students acquire jazz’s culture and knowledge of the styles resulting from it by consolidating the rhythmic, harmonic and melodic concepts (improvisation, interpretation),
• make students autonomous and thus be able to adapt to all professional situations.

The Master leads to two diplomas:

Musicology master degree
The student in Master course follows his classes at the CMDL and at the University of Evry Paris-Saclay for the obtaining of his Master Musicology. He thus acquires a higher university level of knowledge and skills in jazz and improvised music. It strengthens its general culture and proficiency of information and communication technologies.

CMDL diploma
The Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood awards the CMDL diploma to students with a general grade higher than 70% in exams. It certifies a high level of mastery in jazz and improvised music.

Master’s student is register in two schools:

• The CMDL, where he receives almost all of his classes, three days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday).
• The University of Evry Paris-Saclay, where he takes courses one day a week (Wednesday), to obtain his MIMAC master’s degree.

Master’s degree content:

At the CMDL – 3 days a week Instrument, deciphering / Ear / Rhythm / Harmony / Writing, composition and arrangement / Ensemble jazz repertoire / Ensemble original repertoire  / Ensemble «esthetics» repertoire / Big band / Sound engeeneereing / Computer music / Studio / Jazz’s history / knowledge of professionnal environment / Master-class / gigs / …

At the University of Evry Paris-Saclay – 1 day a week (Wednesday)
English and two musicology lessons.

To know the details of the educational program, please refer to the information package (in french).

• 1 copy of the diploma for access to foreign higher education (with sworn translation)
• 1 copy of the foreign higher education diploma (with sworn translation)
• 1 copy of the diploma or certificate of achievement for any foreign musical diploma (with sworn translation)
• Must be at most 26 years old (31st December of the school year)
• Not having interrupted his studies for more than 2 years.

   

INITIAL COURSE

The cost of the course is devided as follows:

4600 euros registration to the CMDL
+/- 243 euros registration at the University of Evry Val d’Essonne
+/- 92 euros from CVEC (Student Life and Campus Contribution)

About 4935 euros per year.

LIFE LEARNING

The cost of the course is devided as follows:

7000 euros registration to the CMDL
+/- 243 euros registration at the University of Evry Val d’Essonne
+/- 92 euros from CVEC (Student Life and Campus Contribution)

About 7335 euros per year.

If you have limited resources, you may be eligible for a scholarship or financial support.

•  Scholarships based on social criteria (BCS)

The aid is awarded according to three criteria: the income of the tax household, the number of children with tax burden of the family and the distance from the place of study. For more information, simulation and application for BCS scholarship, visit etudiant.gouv.fr

•  Emergency help

The national emergency aid fund provides a rapid response to students’ precarious situations.

There are two types of specific support: one-off assistance for the student who is currently experiencing serious difficulties, or annual assistance to the student who is experiencing long-term difficulties.
